M. Kate Curran
Founder
For more than twenty years, Kate Curran has bridged
the worlds of philanthropy, government and business.
Most recently, she held a series of roles of increasing
responsibility over ten years with the General Electric
Company. As Vice President, External Affairs for GE
Money – Americas, she designed GE’s first large Community
Reinvestment Act program, overseeing more than $100,000,000
in community development investments and grants, and
earning an “Outstanding” investment rating from federal
bank regulators. She also led government relations initiatives
generating more than $10,000,000 in annual revenue and
$30,000,000 in cost savings, and fostered strategic
relationships with consumer activists and opinion leaders.
Within General Electric, the financial services industry,
and with consumer activists, Kate was recognized as
a change agent for responsible business practices and
thoughtful advocacy. She was recognized with the GE
Money Summit Awards in 2001 and 2002 and the Legal Star
Award in 2004.
Kate began her career in fund-raising. As Director
of Annual Giving for the Boy Scouts of America, Greater
New York Councils, she built bridges to the Retail &
Fashion, Menswear, Wall Street and New York Society
communities. Her special events were featured in W,
Womenswear Daily, DNR-Menswear Daily, the New York Times
and Institutional Investor. During the 1990-1991 recession,
she increased foundation and corporate revenues by 80%,
special event revenues by 70%, annual Board giving by
50% and direct mail revenues by 85%.
Kate earned her B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross
and her J.D., summa cum laude, from Quinnipiac University.
Immediately following law school, she clerked in the
U.S. District Court with Hon. Ellen B. Burns and the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit with Hon.
Thomas J. Meskill.
