Community Ownership

We require community ownership in all that we do. We ask communities to donate land, labor and time to build schools. We use Reading Challenge Grants to incent parents to begin investing in books. We work with our communities to generate innovate new ideas and develop local pilot projects.

Partnerships

We partner with local governments and local non-profits, leveraging expertise and resources to deploy your philanthropic dollars effectively and efficiently. Under our partnership with the municipal government in Chichicastenango, Guatemala, for example, the municipality also lends machinery, contributes 40% of the materials and supervises construction, reducing philanthropic build costs to $10,000 per school.

Results & Reporting

We are passionate about results, both quantitative and qualitative. We are committed to measuring our results, in terms of both numbers and impact on learning, and we are committed to reporting the return on your investment. Education is a gift, but we treat your philanthropy as an investment.
